Abstract

The importance of medical and aromatic herbs in the pharmaceuticals industry and other industries increased in this country and in the world market during the 1980s. In Serbia and Montenegro, there are appropriate natural conditions for growing medical and aromatic herbs. However, the production and production-related economic effects, as well as those related to medical and aromatic herbs processing and their placement are far from being even close to potential possibilities. The production of medical and aromatic herbs has been accompanied by a plethora of hurdles. The privatization that has taken place has not reflected expected results. Moreover, the production, processing and export of medical herbs are far from the level achieved at the end of the 1980s. Therefore, it is necessary that the privatization models utilized in the privatization of these enterprises should be reviewed. It is also necessary that a privatization model and ownership structure should be proposed in order to accomplish satisfying results.
